The quality of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.
If you ask me what is the single most important key to longevity, I would have to say it is avoiding worry, attachment and other stressful complications. And if you didn’t ask me, I’d still have to say it anyway. 😉
Stress is a major problem for many people – a hectic, stressful work environment, a chaotic home life, unpaid bills to worry about, and harmful habits such as unhealthy eating and lack of exercise can lead to a mountain of endless stress.
If your life is full of stressful complications, like mine once was, there are some simple things you can start doing to get your life to a more peaceful and mindful level.
Now, your life will likely never be 100% stress-free – I don’t even think that’s desirable, even if it’s possible, because some stress, at a sensible level, positively challenges us and helps us grow. But when stress gets out of control it creates a foundation of unhappiness and unhealthiness.
How do you learn to be mindful of your negative thoughts so you can turn things around? Simple: you practice. And how do you practice mindfulness of your thoughts? That’s exactly what the recorded webinar below will help you do.
Last week we teamed up with the founder of SimpleREV, Joel Zaslofsky, to record this webinar just for you. It’s about an hour long, but I highly recommend you create time to watch it. Here’s what we cover:
- How to turn your thoughts from a random obstacle course into an intentional landscape.
- How to stop your mind from habitually abusing your spirit.
- Why self-compassion isn’t optional (assuming you want to be healthy and productive).
- The only two steps you need to simplify anything in your life.
- How to take your brain out of the fast lane and happily obey your internal speed limit.
- How to maintain a solid mental and emotional hygiene.
- Why a daily self-inquiry practice leads to major self-awareness, allowing you to eliminate untrue thoughts and negativity.
- Why we instantly try to heal physical injuries, but rub salt on emotional wounds.
- How our self-identity can hold us back, or move us forward, based on our thinking.
- What an abundance mindset is and why having one is so amazing.
- Some surprising ways your daily habits can simplify your life.
We also discuss some big takeaways from the upcoming SimpleREV conference, happening in Minneapolis on October 2-3, where Angel and I will be hosting a workshop entitled “The Beliefs that Hold You Back and The Questions that Will Set You Free.”
Clear the Thoughts that Complicate Your Life (video/webinar):
Meet us live…
If you’re interested in meeting and speaking with us live in the flesh, but you can’t make it to Minneapolis this October, we’re also co-hosting a live, two-day event, Think Better, Live Better, in South Florida on February 18-19, 2017. Be sure to sign-up for our free email updates, if you haven’t done so already, to be among the first to learn more about our live event once we have the details finalized.
Your turn…
Which point discussed in the webinar did you find most helpful? Should we do webinars more often? We would love your feedback. Please leave a comment below and share your thoughts with us.

Just finished watching the webinar! Simply excellent. I love the self-inquiry and other mindfulness strategies. In fact, I intend to re-watch several sections of this webinar again just so they soak in. Please do more of these. I’d like to catch one live if possible.
Also, I’m excited about the live event in Austin. I can’t wait to meet you two in person.
Marc Chernoff says
Amandah, thanks for the kind words. 🙂
We have the Austin event date set for January 9th. We’ll be sending an email about about this in the next two weeks.

Worth the watch! Thank you for this video webinar. Marc’s point at the end about interpreting and dealing with the negativity that comes from family was incredibly helpful. I will definitely be attending one of your live events in the near future.
Marc Chernoff says
Glad you resonated with our strategy for dealing with people’s negativity. It’s such an important issue, as so many of us deal with this on a daily basis.

Haven’t watched the video yet…just stopped for a coffee while out shopping and checked my phone to save looking like a saddo!!! Every other table is full of couples and groups…..and the comment that resonated with me is treating the physical wounds but rubbing salt in the emotional ones…so true…of me at least. I’m 67 and recently single after 40 years and live in Spain so can’t get to your seminars. Thanks for the wise advice xx

Superb Webinar! I have been regularly reading your blog for the past year, it is really wonderful and very helpful.
I have a habit of over thinking and letting my self-talk get the best of me in positive and negative ways. While self-talking I will argue myself about how others will interpret me, or just about how I disagree with others. These ‘others’ may be close to me, or simply people I never talk to and having some different view on those topics (Example: Politicians, TV debate contests).
I know this is the way I am, creating my views on different topics and then overthinking it all. By arguing inside in this way I just upset myself for no reason.
Could you please suggest how can I change this thought process of self talk, and stop worrying what others think?
Marc Chernoff says
Anoop, when implemented as a daily ritual, the self-inquiry process we discuss in the webinar is what I recommend you try first. This is a powerful tool that will help you sort through your thoughts, so you can get a better idea of why this thought process is troubling in the first place.

Yes, more webinars please! Y’all are wonderful!!

Thanks, and yeah we’ll try to plan a few more over the upcoming months.

Fantastic webinar! Thank you so much!! All the points were very good but the ones that resonated with me most, and ones that I will start to practice more and more, are mindfulness and taking small steps towards my goals. Of course I have heard this before, but you put it in a way that now is making me realize the significance of it in my over-all well being. Thanks again.

That was amazing, I couldn’t thank you enough; how it has changed the perception that I used to have against the world and the people that I am surrounded with; it feels really good. So kudos to both of you, I hope we’d cross paths one day! 🙂

Great webinar. I am taking a full load of classes, working full time. I need to have the time to call a time out and say you know what I handled that wrong with my two teens as well as in all of my other relationships. I have so much on my plate and wanna take legitimate, focused action. I want to be able to remove the excess, but its challenging to simply because I’m always being pulled in different directions. Wanting to develop my business, continuing my education, taking care of finances and just daily life, getting homework assignments done. I desire to feel a sense of accomplishment with the daily steps that I am taking and let go of the I’m not good enough, because my big picture has not yet been achieved. Yes, I would love more webinars. Thanks for the articles, some days they are my morning rituals and assist me in starting my day off positively.
Marc Chernoff says
You’re welcome Pamela. Keep going, one step at a time. It sounds like you’re ambitious, and I love that. 😉

Its all about the journey… progress… the destination will eventually transpire… then evaporate. Another journey pulsates in your bloodstream… Ahhh… the water cycle of our vaporous lives.
I loved what you said! Daily rituals… baby steps to future, adult stages of our lives… Record, Reflect, reevaluate…. the three R’s to rev-up our minds.
Thanks for your emails. They are like my early morning coffee… Warm to my soul and energizing to my spirit!
Marc Chernoff says
I love your sentiment, Luli! 🙂

Thanks for the great video blog. I know i need to hear that because i am guilty of complicating my life with fears some justified and others not at all. I love the one on mindfulness because it helps to keep me in the now and away from the past and future where I could spend my entire day worrying about. It helps me to focus on those things that truly matters and which I do have control over.

Love your articles and site. Unfortunately, I am deaf and unable to listen to the video/Webinar. The cc (closed captioning) used by Youtube is notorious for errors. I am unable to receive this particular article in such format. Thank you.
Marc Chernoff says
NAe, I’m truly sorry about this. 95% of our content will continue to be in written form. Occasionally we will release a video without full transcripts when video recording is conversational and unscripted. I will look into a remedy for this in the coming months.
Best regards to you.

Super excited to watch the entire thing tomorrow, as it’s so late right now when I’ve found it! I watched about 20 minutes and it was awesome. I love hearing concrete examples and how you take us through the questions you’d ask. Very helpful. And very pertinent to me – seriously feels like you are talking directly to me… !
Denise says
Such a helpful and insightful webinar. Great reiteration of concepts I’ve seen on your website, but with helpful examples of in practice use of the mental tools to make the concepts work.
Especially useful was the insight about the projected fears of others (loved ones) not being intentional, but a reflection of their own fears. I have faced this numerous times and always felt let down, but now I see it differently.
Thank you for posting this.
